The decision to sell the stallion at public auction was made less than five weeks before the auction. "The trustee felt that this was the most expedient way to conclude the case." said Tim Jennings, Vice President of Professional Auction Services, Inc. "It proves once again that the auction method of marketing is the most efficient and effective way to sell a quality horse. The Thoroughbred industry has known this for a century and it looks like we starting to understand it in the Quarter Horse and Paint industries."
The second High Selling Horse was First Rates My Dad, and APHA stallion. He is an APHA Open and Amateur ROM Halter Horse. First Rates My Dad sold for $25,000.00 to Tammy Norton of Pennsylvania and was sold by Mike Reid of North Carolina.
The sale averaged $3,792 on horses actually sold. "This was a great sale." Jennings stated "This is the third year that we have topped the sale with a Leading Sire. These three horses have averaged $276,668. The only weakness we see in the market now is with the Paint yearlings. There are so many on the market that supply has far surpassed demand at this point." Forty Paint yearlings were cataloged in the sale and 30 sold for an average price of $1,370. Horses other than Paint yearlings averaged $4,480.
The Raleigh Spring Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. of Leesburg, Virginia.
