Summer Sale
The 1998 Eastern Summer Sale produced a record average price. The sale was held on Saturday, July 18, 1998 at the Fairgrounds on Strawberry Hill in Richmond, Virginia. The sale was held in conjunction with 2 AQHA shows sponsored by the Region 2 of the Virginia Quarter Horse Association.
The sale averaged $2,506.82 on horses actually sold. "This was a very good summer sale." said Tim Jennings. "Summer sales are historically softer markets anywhere in the country." Since the 1996 Eastern Summer Sale, gross sales have increased of 19.46% and the average has increased by 9.13%. "We are seeing rapid growth in the market for better horses, horses that can go to a show or produce show horses." Sellers from fifteen states and Canada brought horses to sell. Buyers came from thirteen states.
The Easter Summer Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. of Leesburg, Virginia. Professional Auction Services, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Mike Jennings and Tim Jennings and has managed nearly 140 Horse Auctions with sales of over $54,000,000.00. Auctioneers for the Sale were Mike Jennings and Tim Jennings of Professional Auction Services, Inc. and Joel White of Oklahoma City.
