Sale Average Increases at 28th Eastern Spring Sale

The sale average at the 28th Annual Eastern Spring Sale rose seven percent (7%) over the 1998 sale average. The sale averaged $2,678.88 on horses actually sold. "This was the strongest Spring Sale we have had in years." Tim Jennings stated "The market was stronger for paints than we have seen for a while and nice show horses were in demand." The increase in the sale average was notable given that this year's high selling horse brought $50,000.00 less than the 1998 high selling horse. Most of the horses offered for sale found new owners with 82% of the horses actually selling. Quarter Horses led the way averaging $3,074.54 while Paints averaged $2,330.00. Buyers came from fourteen states and Canada.

"This is such a solid market", said Jennings. "We sold more horse for over $5,000.00 at this sale than we have sold. at any Eastern Spring Sale in the past 27 years." The 1999 Eastern Spring Sale was the 28th Spring sale for Quarter Horses & Paints held in the Sale Pavilion at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The past twenty one sales have been managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc.

The Eastern Spring Hunter Sale was held on Sunday following the Eastern Spring Sale. New records were set at the Hunter & All-Breed Session, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The sale produced a record high average price for horses sold and a record price for a high selling horse. Horses came from eleven states to be sold. Buyers from six states took new horses home.

The Eastern Spring Hunter Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. of Leesburg, Virginia. Professional Auction Services, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Mike Jennings and Tim Jennings and has managed nearly 160 Horse Auctions with sales of over $57,000,000.00.
