A record for average sale price was set at the Third Annual Eastern Fall Hunter Sale, held on Sunday, November 1, 1998 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland.

The sale averaged $1,829.87 on horses actually sold. A record 91% of the horses offered were sold to new owners. "The fact that more than nine out of ten horses that were offered were actually sold is the best indicator of how strong this sale was" said Tim Jennings, Vice President of Professional Auction Services, Inc. "This sale marked a great improvement over the first two Eastern Fall Hunter Sales." Jennings stated "Every statistical measure of the sale has improved since the first sale in 1996 ."

Horses sold for an average price of $1,845.75 while ponies averaged $1,794.79. Prices for Arabians and Miniature Horses continue to be depressed. Buyers came from eleven states and Canada.

The Eastern Fall Hunter Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. of Leesburg, Virginia.
