A record for average sale price was set at the Third Annual Eastern Spring Hunter Sale, held on Sunday, April 19, 1998 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The rainy weather throughout the Demonstration of Sale Horses and the Sale did not dampen the bidding.

The sale averaged $2,315.38 on horses actually sold. "This was a great sale." Jennings stated "The bidding was very active and nearly every horse here brought fair value in the sale ring." Most of the horses offered for sale found new owners with 79% of the horse actually selling. Ponies sold well averaging $2,642.50 while prices for Arabians and Miniature Horses continue to be depressed. The average price for horses actually sold not including Arabians and Miniature Horses was a very strong $2,547.28. Buyers came from eleven states and Canada.
