The Georgia Spring Sale showed continued growth in 1998. The sale took place on Saturday, May 16, 1998 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. It was held in conjunction with 3 AQHA shows sponsored by the Horseman's Quarter Horse Association.

The sale averaged $2,438.28 on horses actually sold. "This was a solid sale." said Tim Jennings, "and the sale has grown and improved steadily." Since the 1995 Georgia Spring Sale, gross sales have increased at a rate of 15.62% each year and the number of horses has increased by 10.86% each year. "The horses offered here brought fair market value. We are continuing to see the better bred and better prepared horses increase in price while prices at the lower end of the market are responding to the pressure of over supply." The highest demand was for older, broke horses. Geldings led this market with four year old and older geldings averaging $4,125.00.

Each year the Georgia Spring Sale attracts buyers and sellers from a broader area of the nation. Buyers came from ten states and sellers from thirteen states brought horses to sell. "Auctions are an efficient and effective marketing for people who don't get a lot of traffic at their farms," said Jennings. "Our job is to promote the horses and help negotiate the price. We are drawing good sized, active crowds here and our sellers are getting fair market offers for their horses."
