The Georgia Spring Sale, held May 17, 1997 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia, posted dramatic increases over the 1996 sale. The gross sales increased an astonishing 96% with only a 13% increase in the number of horses cataloged. The sale average increased 36%, while the average price for the Top Ten sellers increased 71%.

Tim Jennings, of Professional Auction Services, Inc., stated "This sale made huge improvements over last year. The crowd was larger and more active and prices improved across the board." A record crowd attended the sale which was held during horse shows produced by the Horseman's Quarter Horse Association.

The demand for Paints continues to be very strong. The Paints sold at the Georgia Spring Sale averaged $2,943.75. The high selling Paint was APHA Champion, Superior Halter Horse Arista Kate, a chestnut tobiano mare foaled in 1986, consigned by Lori Search, agent for Casa Rooney and purchased by Sherrie Parker of North Carolina for $12,500.00.

Buyer demand for mares was particularly high. The top eleven sellers were mares with 87% of the mares entered sold for an average of $2,990.10. Yearlings also sold very well averaging $2,496.25 (more than stallions or geldings) with 91% completed sales.

The high selling yearling was Idlewood Cookie, a daughter of Zips Chocolate Chip out of a daughter of Sonny Go Lucky bringing $10,000.00. She was sold by Roy Chalker of Georgia and purchased by Stanley Scott of Florida.

Professional Auction Services, Inc.'s next sale in Georgia will be held on September 13, 1997 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. The Georgia Fall Sale will be held during the Georgia Quarter Horse Association Futurity Show.
